This month, we will hold our inaugural online Customer and Partner online forum to keep the lines of communication going with our highly valued customers and partners. The forum will take place on January 26, at 12:00 p.m. ET and customers (and partners) can register here. If you cannot attend the forum, we would still love to get your valued input. If you have suggestions or topics you would like to see covered in future webinars, we are putting the 2021 agenda together now and would love to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Wishing you all the best in 2021.

Q4 2020 Webinars Recap
October 6th, 2020: Using REXX with DFSMSrmm
Tape management systems are giant record-keeping utilities tracking datasets, tape volumes, the relationships between the two, and all kinds of other information. There’s an extensive ISPF interface to access, update and report on that information and issue commands, but it’s sometimes useful to perform those functions programmatically versus through an ISPF dialogue. In this webinar, DTS Software CTO Steve Pryor talks primarily about how to use RMM TSO Commands as part of REXX execs.
November 10th, 2020: Don’t Overdraft that Account! – Controlling Disk Space Use with DLIMIT
Despite the plummeting price of disk space over the last few decades, it’s not an unlimited resource, and the lack of disk space when you need it can lead to problems such as job failures or simply an increase in maintenance needs. In this webinar, DTS Software CTO Steve Pryor talks disk space generally and highlights DLIMIT—a tool that you can use to track disk space usage by application.
December 8th, 2020: What’s a Manual Robot? Understanding SMS-Managed Tape
DTS is known largely as a disk storage management company, but we’ve also gotten more involved in tape storage management as technology has advanced over the past few years. Modern virtual tape systems use the DFSMS storage management subsystem to help manage virtual tape volumes and libraries, but the SMS manual tape library differs significantly from automated tape libraries such as the IBM TS77XX Series. In this webinar, DTS Software CTO Steve Pryor provides an overview of SMS tape management, including some of the history behind the technology, the relationship between tape datasets, volumes, and libraries, information about the differences between automated and manual tape libraries, and the creation and use of SMS tapes.
Topics We Will Cover in 2021 in Our Webinar Series
- Understanding the DFSMS data class
- Understanding allocation, SMS, and catalog defaults for z/OS
- Using the Catalog Search Interface
- Using REXX to get dataset and volume information
